The Story Behind the Stickers

What Is This?

Garbage Peel Chefs is a satirical trading card series that pays loving, grotesque homage to the world's most famous chefs — in the style of the classic 1980s Garbage Pail Kids sticker cards. Each card takes a celebrity chef and reimagines them through the lens of absurdist, gross-out humor that defined a generation of playground trading.

But underneath the vomit jokes and exploding heads, there's a real message. The card backs feature actual recipes from "Mini Fridge to Microwave: A Broke Bitch's Plan for Eating Well on a Government Budget" — a cookbook written for people who don't have a stove, an oven, or a trust fund. And some cards carry hard economic statistics about income inequality in America.

The Creator

This project was created by someone who spent nearly a decade working in professional kitchens alongside some of the chefs parodied in this series. The caricatures come from a place of deep respect and firsthand experience — the kind of love that can only be expressed through grotesque exaggeration.

The recipes are real. The economic statistics are real. The only thing that's fake is the idea that everyone has equal access to good food. This project exists at the intersection of nostalgia, satire, and social commentary — because sometimes you need to make people laugh before you can make them listen.

The Three Pillars

1. The Art

13 original trading cards across three collectible sets, each featuring a grotesque parody of a famous chef. Hand-designed in the classic 1980s Garbage Pail Kids style with bold line art, dripping text, and the kind of humor that would get you sent to the principal's office.

2. The Recipes

Every recipe in the "Mini Fridge to Microwave" collection can be made with nothing more than a mini fridge and a microwave. No stove. No oven. No fancy equipment. Just real food for real people on real budgets. Because eating well shouldn't require a culinary degree or a six-figure salary.

3. The Reality

The economic statistics woven throughout this project aren't there for shock value — they're there because they're true. When 64% of Americans live paycheck to paycheck and the top 1% owns nearly a third of all wealth, a cookbook for people with only a microwave isn't a novelty — it's a necessity.
